Background information to the Grimm Brothers:
The brothers Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm were German scholars known for their fairy tales and for their work in the study of different languages, which included the creation of tales. They wrote 210 fairies. Jacob Grimm lived from 1785-1863 and his brother Wilhelm Grimm from 1786-1859. The Brothers Grimm also created a German dictionary. The 'Deutsche Märchenstraße' (German Fairy Tale Route) is a real-life route which includes all of the fairy tales and events in the lives of the Brothers Grimm. It goes from Bremerhaven on the north German coast to Hanau in the middle of Germany. Most fairy tales begin with the words "Once upon a time...". In German, this is "Es war einmal...". |
